I Can Haz Loe Xpectateyuns? Saunders makes his eighth starts of the season for the D-backs and is still looking for his first win. This is a combination of a lack of run support - we've only once scored more than four runs - and bad pitching, with a K:BB ration of 23:20 in 39.1 innings. Things would have been worse, except he's been very lucky with regard to double-plays, rolling them up at a 31% rate - that's almost twice his career average (16%) and close to three times MLB average (11%).

Would it be cruel of me to refer to the top of our order as Messrs. Flail, Fail and Frail? At least Gibson has finally been "convinced" - I imagine a car-battery and some clamps were involved - regarding the non-wisdom of having Johnson in the two-hole. But I can't say I look at the line-up and feel much confidence this will break the streak of low-scoring games by the D-backs: 11 of the past 12 have seen us score four runs or less. We'll see what happens, but I can't say I have a great deal of confidence in Joe Saunders the streak stopper. But, hey, that's why we play the games.
