Last televised game of the pre-season is supposed to be tonight, as the Diamondbacks take on the Dodgers - well, half of them, since it's a split-squad contest for Los Angeles - at Salt River Fields, with the game on Fox Sports Arizona. Emphasis used advisedly, because the entire afternoon program in the Cactus League ended up canceled, from what I can see, and the two games this evening, at SRF and Peoria, don't look to be on much firmer ground. Literally
As I write these words, a little after 5pm, it is coming down steadily here in West Phoenix, and I suspect it's not much better in Scottsdale. Though a Tweet from Shaun Rachau just said "Looks like there will be baseball... Game on", so seems the rain has stopped there. It does look brighter in the West. so if that's the direction it's coming from, we might be okay.
If there is a game, this is we will be, discussing it. Our record is currently 8-19: we've been doing a little better since the break, and have won three of the last four, which is good to see. There's still a lot of questions to be answered, in the rotation, bullpen and at the 1B/LF combo - I'm just glad that these are not my decisions to make, because they aren't going to be easy. It would be nice put on a good performance this evening, and give reason for optimism as the last time most of us will see our boys before Opening Day - except, of course, for the thousands attending SnakePicnicFest on Saturday. Here's the line-up
