Gameday Thread, ST #1: 2/25 vs. Giants

Not planning to do one of these every day, but for games that are televised or otherwise important, I think there might be enough interest to justify it. Today is the spring opener, as we take on the Giants at Scottsdale Stadium, so will be the first chance for 'The Diamondbacks Way' to be tested against another side. Of course, spring training results are entirely meaningless. We will be repeating that loudly should crushing defeat ensue, but success will be taken as definitive proof of our awesomeness. Hey, if we beat the reigning World Champions, that makes us the World Champions, doesn't it?

Line-up and stuff after the jump.

  1. Willie Bloomquist 2B
  2. Melvin Mora SS
  3. Justin Upton RF
  4. Miguel Montero C
  5. Xavier Nady LF
  6. Brandon Allen 1B
  7. Wily Mo Pena dh
  8. Tony Abreu 3B
  9. Cole Gillespie  CF
    Joe Saunders P

Obviosly, far too early, and so it would be insane to read anything into this line-u... OMG! Bloomquist at lead-off! Scrappiest lead-off in the entire universes! There. Glad I got that out of my system. Interesting to note Allen getting the start at first-base, against some Lincecum guy, who appears to be a left-hander, according to baseball-reference.com. [Edit, when batting. Which he won't today, since they're using the DH] After Saunders two innings, we'll get another couple from Wade Miley, and then all being well, single frames from David Hernandez, Kam Mickolio, Esmerling Vasquez, Rafael Rodriguez and Carlos Rosa.

Hooray for almost entirely meaningless baseball games!
