D-Backs, Montero avoid arbitration
"The Diamondbacks and catcher Miguel Montero avoided arbitration on Wednesday by agreeing to a one-year, $3.2 million deal. The contract comes in $100,000 above the midpoint of the numbers the sides filed for a potential arbitration hearing. The club filed at $2.8 million and Montero countered at $3.4 million. "Obviously I don’t want to go to arbitration," Montero said. "This is a good deal and I’m happy with it."" The agreement leaves just Kelly Johnson to be settled with, among the 2011 Diamondbacks.
