Road-trip! The Diamondbacks have their last chance to influence the NL West race here, with three games against the current leaders San Francisco. We could really help out San Diego if we were to do well here, though personally, that feels a bit like the CIA funding heroic Afghan freedom fighters in the 1980's: nothing good can really come of it... Still, a good chance to measure ourselves against the team at the top of the division. Right now, it looks like we'll get Tim Lincecum on Thursday - facing Barry Enright, naturally - but the Giants might opt to flip-flop him and Barry Zito, so Timmeh can face the Padres over the weekend. We'll see how that plays out
- Stephen Drew SS
- Ryan Roberts LF
- Kelly Johnson 2B
- Chris Young CF
- Adam LaRoche 1B
- Tony Abreu 3B
- Miguel Montero C
- Cole Gillespie RF
- Rodrigo Lopez RHP
It'll be the third time Lopez has faced the Giants, and he hasn't done too well - they've scored fourteen earned runs in sixteen innings. However, Rodrigo has been a good deal more effective of late, with a 3.70 ERA in his last four starts, posting back-to-back wins. Sanchez has had issues going deep against the Diamondbacks: he hasn't got through six full innings in the last four attempts facing Arizona. However, he is still 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA in those games, and along with Matt Cain, have been the Giants' most reliable starters this season.
As we continue winding down the season, it's Sprankton's last recap of the year. I won't be about, since it's EXW night, but will see if I can find a TV to catch the first couple of innings.
