Looks like we have probably seen the last of Justin Upton this season, with the word being that his left-shoulder issues are likely going to be treated gingerly. Makes sense, absolutely no point in risking anything, in what is a completely meaningless game. Well, for us, anyway. They will be desperate to win this one, with Jimenez on the mound. In some ways, this is a horrific mismatch: after all, we've seen Ubaldo five times this year already, and he has a 1.64 ERA against us. Contrast Lopez, who in three starts against Colorado, is 0-3 with a 4.19 ERA.
And yet... Of late, Lopez hasn't been bad. He has delivered three consecutive quality starts, allowing six earned runs over 19.1 innings, a better ERA than Jimenez has managed over the same time. Still, the struggles of the offense recently - we still have just one free tacos performance in September - make tonight a tall order, and I can't say I am too optimistic. I'm on a new shift at work, which means I work evenings, so won't be about too much, but I'll be taking my lunch-break around first pitch or so...
