Ugh. The Pirates. We're not even going to start on that.
DBacks News:
-
[dbacksvenom.com] Jarrod Parker will throw simulated games in Instructional League - Jarrod Parker's return from Tommy John surgery begins this off-season in Tucson. They considered having him go to the AFL, but decided that cautious was the better way to go. Probably a good idea, I know I'd rather have him under the control of our own coaches who aren't going to worry about winning or losing games, but about how his arm is doing. Parker threw two simulated innings today and said on Twitter that it went well.
-
[azcentral.com] Keeping Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Justin Upton healthy a 2011 priority - J-Up has missed thirty games this season, and the Diamondbacks are 6-24 in those games.
-
[Twitter.com] John Gambadoro: Dbacks "not close" yet - Gambo from KTAR 620 says we're still a few days from getting a name on our new GM, though Jerry DiPoto and Kevin Towers are the favorites. Buster Olney says the team is looking for an "old-fashioned scouting/player development type of GM." (Sorry, guys, I usually avoid posting just Twitter messages, but it's a slow news day.)
-
[mlbtraderumors.com] Non-Tender Candidate: Ryan Church - MLBTR takes a look at Ryan Church, saying it's unlikely the DBacks "will offer Church a contract for a comparable amount of money" after the season he's had.
After the jump, some more news from around the league.

-
[hardballtimes.com] Cueto-LaRue: Legal implications… - With Jason LaRue retiring, could he take legal action against Johnny Cueto for giving him that concussion?
-
[hardballtimes.com] State of the organization - A quick run through the league of each team's organization- and by "quick," I mean one sentence each. I don't know about you, but I don't pay a whole lot of attention to farm systems beyond our own, so it's an interesting look.
-
[cbssports.com] Report: Mets GM to be relieved of duty - Anyone surprised that Omar Minaya will be asked to leave? I mean, other than being surprised it took this long. Josh Byrnes is one of the names mentioned as a possible replacement.
And there's some news to get you through the day as the Diamondbacks travel back home from Pittsburgh. Hopefully the team is taking this time to think about what they've done. Or something.
