Diamondbacks 2011 Schedule released

Events surrounding the Major League Baseball All-Star Game and interleague contests against the Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins highlight the Arizona Diamondbacks' 2011 regular-season schedule at Chase Field, which the D-backs released today in conjunction with the other 29 Major League clubs.

Numerous All-Star Summer events will precede the 82nd Midsummer Classic that will be played at Chase Field on July 12. MLB's All-Star FanFest, an interactive baseball theme park and the largest baseball fan event in the world, will occupy the Phoenix Convention Center from July 8-12. All-Star Sunday at Chase Field will include the All-Star Futures Game and All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game on July 10. All-Star Workout Day on July 11 will feature the fan-favorite Home Run Derby.

Arizona will open the 2011 season with a six-game road trip, starting with a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies April 1-3 in Denver, Colo. and followed by a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field April 4-6. The D-backs will open their home schedule with a 6:40 p.m. game against the Cincinnati Reds on April 8 to begin a nine-game homestand, which also includes series against the St. Louis Cardinals (April 11-13) and San Francisco Giants (April 15-17).

The Twins will be the D-backs' first interleague opponent next season when they visit Chase Field for a three-game weekend series May 20-22. The White Sox will visit June 17-19 for another three-game weekend series prior to the Indians closing out the D-backs' home interleague schedule June 27-29. Arizona will also play interleague series on the road next season in Kansas City (June 21-23), Detroit (June 24-26) and Oakland (July 1-3).

Other series on the D-backs' 2011 home schedule include the defending (for now!) National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies with an early-season visit April 25-27 followed by a four-game weekend series against the Cubs from April 28-May 1. The Atlanta Braves will make a brief two-game visit May 18-19 and the New York Mets will face the D-backs at Chase Field Aug. 12-14. The rival Los Angeles Dodgers will make the first of three visits for a weekend series July 15-17, followed by another weekend series Aug. 5-17 before concluding the regular season Sept. 26-28.

Major League Baseball adopted the recommendation of the Commissioner's Special Committee for On-Field Matters to begin the regular season earlier and during the week to avoid playing World Series games in November. Thank heavens for that. The full schedule is after the jump
