Rk Tm W L W-L% GB
1 Pirates 48 94 .338 -
2 Orioles 55 88 .385 6.5
Mariners 55 88 .385 6.5
4 D-backs 57 86 .399 8.5
5 Indians 58 85 .406 9.5
6 Royals 58 84 .408 10

Nineteen games left. We need to go 13-6 to match last season's total of 70 wins. Almost certainly not going to happen. Conversely, we need to go 6-13 to avoid losing a hundred games this year. Probably not going to happen - but if we keep up the pace of the last nine contests, where we won just twice, it will do. I guess the team has reacted badly to Cap'n Kirk's edict stating they must have their iPads and cellphones turned off before games...

Into surprising Cincinnati we go, where the Reds look set fair for their first post-season appearance since all the way back in 1995. [Sheesh, and the nattering nabobs are out in full force here, just three seasons after we were in the NLCS] They have a six-game lead over St. Louis, and are rated a 92.9% post-season shot, the best in the National League, by coolstandings.com. So, they'll probably be taking it easy on the Diamondbacks, and easing towards the playoffs, right? Yeah... About that...

  1. Stephen Drew ss
  2. Tony Abreu 3b
  3. Kelly Johnson 2b
  4. Justin Upton rf
  5. Miguel Montero c
  6. Ryan Church cf
  7. Brandon Allen 1b
  8. Gerardo Parra lf
  9. Barry Enright rhp

Interesting line-up tonight: Upton is finally back, but Chris Young and Adam LaRoche are both rested (replaced by Church and Allen respectively), while Mark Reynolds' on-again, off-again affair with the line-up is back to "off" today. Enright will try to bounce back from the worst start of his young career, but Arroyo was lit up in his last start as well, allowing seven earned runs in 4.1 innings at Coors. He's on my fantasy team, and since we are in the playoffs this week... Well, let's just say, I hope it isn't the Reds' bullpen that inflicts a loss on us, in what is the final game on a Monday this year for the Diamondbacks.
