You ever have one of those days that just doesn't go the way you planned? Of course you know what I'm talking about, you watch the Diamondbacks. Well, they happen. And yesterday was on of them for our boys in Sedona red. We hoped for sweep, but got swatted instead.
Recaps:
-
[azcentral.com] Arizona Diamondbacks routed by San Diego Padres - It's hard to say one play was a turning point when we lost by nine runs, but Gibson has his suspicions.
-
[fanster.com] Latos too much for Diamondbacks in 10-1 loss to Padres - Maybe the team is Latos-intolerant.
-
[dbacks.com] Saunders suffers first loss for D-backs - After his two great previous starts, Saunders wasn't really on his game, and he admitted that freely.
Previews:
-
[cbssports.com] Diamondbacks-Brewers Preview - You know the last time we beat the Brewers? May 2, 2009. Our winning pitcher was some guy named Dan Haren, and somebody called Chad Qualls picked up the save? I don't remember either of those guys.
-
[miamiherald.com] Arizona Diamondbacks (43-69) at Milwaukee Brewers (53-59) - Our last series against Milwaukee, they outscored us 26-6. Let's try to improve on that.
DBacks News:
-
[azcentral.com] Arizona Diamondbacks' Chris Young, Kelly Johnson top candidates for comeback award - They probably won't get the attention, since they're on a bad team, but the turnaround they've put together is really impressive.
-
[foxsportsarizona.com] Post-Game Report (Aug. 8): D-Backs see future? - Jack Magruder looks at how the Padres have recovered from their rough season last year, and asks if the Diamondbacks might rework their rotation the same way.
-
[hardballtimes.com] Did the Diamondbacks get enough for Dan Haren? - Again, we get the question- did we get enough in our trade to the Angels? In summary: "The Diamondbacks probably could have got a little bit more for the rights to Haren, but in the end the package they received is at least a respectable return."
Around Sports:
-
[yahoo.com] Scapegoated in Seattle: Mariners give Don Wakamatsu the boot - So long, Wakamatsu. I'll miss you, and not just because I liked to pretend your name was the noise the Japanese version of Fozzie Bear would make. (But at least partially because of that.)
-
[cbs8.com] Giants’ Sanchez has a prediction for the San Diego Padres - I'm always interested to see what players are going to mouth off and give their opponent something to talk about. This time, it's ZOMG!Sanchez.
-
[BBC] Finalist dies at World Sauna event in Finland - The dangers of extremely stupid sports.
Well, that'll tide you over for a couple hours, right? We face off against the Brewers, and here's to breaking our long losing streak against Wisconsin's second-best-loved team. (Well, professionally.) (Well, maybe third- how did the Bucks do last year?) Go DBacks!
