So, it has come to this, has it? Hoping against hope that we might avoid a sweep at the hands of the Cubs. Not quite the way we were hoping to storm into July, is it? However, there is some good news: I don't have to do the recap tonight, it being an Azreouscap. The past few have been such depressing endeavors - much though I enjoyed the one in the style of HP Lovecraft - that the prospect of not having to pay any attention to the team for a night comes as a blessed relief.
Line-up and (not very many) details after the jump.
- Chris Young CF
- Kelly Johnson 2B
- Justin Upton RF
- Miguel Montero C
- Mark Reynolds 3B
- Adam LaRoche 1B
- Stephen Drew SS
- Gerardo Parra LF
- Edwin Jackson RHP
We missed Dempster back when we played the Cubs in Chicago, but hit him pretty well during the two games we saw him in 2009 - ten earned runs in eleven innings of work. The bad news is, the Cubs hit Jackson around pretty well when they saw him in May: eight earned runs in only four innings of work. Ouch.
Here's a snippet that missed SnakeBytes going to press. Baseball America reports, "Venezuelan center fielder Yorman Garcia has agreed to terms with the Diamondbacks for a six-figure bonus. Garcia, a 16-year-old righthanded hitter from Caracas, is one of the best athletes in Latin America, a plus-plus runner and a line-drive hitter with a wiry, projectable body." Between this and Wagner Mateo, seems that we may be mining the Latin territories for position players a bit more than we have previously.
Probably not going to be about tonight. There's only so much torture a man can take...
