A final thought on last night's game. At one point the home-plate umpire awarded a Dodgers' batter on ball three. And Kirk Gibson said nothing at all. Can you imagine the furore there would have been among the nattering nabobs of negativity over at azcentral.com if the "inexperienced" AJ Hinch had done such a thing in his second game. Instead, it barely rates a mention in the comments. Anyway, for today, we still have a chance to take the series, if Haren can pitch a bit.

  1. Kelly Johnson 2B
  2. Stephen Drew SS
  3. Justin Upton RF
  4. Miguel Montero C
  5. Chris Young CF
  6. Adam LaRoche 1B
  7. Mark Reynolds 3B
  8. Gerado Parra LF
  9. Dan Haren RHP

A more conventional line-up from Gibson this afternoon, shall we say. A very interesting morning of news, with Chris Young being named to his first All-Star team, and the Dontrelle Willis experiment being consigned to the dustbin of history, as he becomes the first victim of the DiPoto + Gibson era: Jordan Norberto comes up from the minors to be the left-hander in the bullpen. We'll see how it works this time: I hope it's because he is good enough to pitch in the majors, rather than because we "must" have a left-hander in the bullpen...

justin1985 is on the guest recap this afternoon, so thanks to him for taking that on. We're at the half-way stage of the season, so as a bit of fun, we can double the tallies achieved this far as a projection of what we might "expect" at the end of the year. The poll below has a number of examples at this point: which one do you think is most likely to take place? Feel free to discuss in the comments below too.
