The first night of a glorious new era of Diamondbacks baseball opens tonight, under the watchful gaze of Messrs. Gibson and DiPoto. Surely, nothing can stop the team from sweeping majestically to 83 consecutive wins and a World Series berth!

Hey, we can but dream, can't we? Gibson's first line-up as manager after the jump. And more sarcasm, I imagine.

Yeah... Color me distinctly unimpressed by this. Put the guy with the lowest on-base percentage on the season to bat lead-off. Because he steals bases, presumably. Based on that, looks like we've gone back to the days of Bob Melvin. However, in the spirit of a triumphal new dawn, I'll say no more than a grunted, "We'll see..." Interestingly, Drew is back out of the line-up today, in favor of Abreu, after getting only one start in the St. Louis series. Bit of a surprise, as Drew is 6-for-19 against Kuroda, the most hits of anyone and the best BA of those with 10+ PAs.

Edwin Jackson takes the mound, and anything less than perfection will, of course, be a severe disappointment. 'Nuff said. Might be a bit late to this one, as we may be going to see what's looking increasingly likely to be SnakePit Towers v2.0, over in Glendale. Fingers crossed on that front. See you when we return from that.
