Gameday Thread, #51: 5/30 vs. Giants

If the Diamondbacks lose this afternoon, for their seventh loss in a row, they would be getting into pretty rarefied territory as far as streaks go - only four times in franchise history have they dropped more than seven consecutive games. There's no doubt what the main cause is - an offense that has posted a line of .178/.249/.272 over that time, which at .521, is the worst OPS in any of the comparable streaks.

Line-ups after the jump, and details of a roster move in an effort to break the streak.

  1. Kelly Johnson 2b
  2. Justin Upton rf
  3. Stephen Drew ss
  4. Mark Reynolds 3b
  5. Adam LaRoche 1b
  6. Chris Young cf
  7. Gerardo Parra lf
  8. Chris Snyder c
  9. Ian Kennedy rhp

Well, when I say "roster move," I actually mean on this side, as we promote a rookie to do the recap, in the shape of mRcLeAn60, who will be delivering his thoughts on the game afterward. Will he produce something of Pulitzer Prize quality? We'll have to see. Frankly, even if it consisted of him banging his head on the keyboard for 500 words, it would probably be more insightful than anything I can offer at this point. I will still be making an effort to watch the game, but reserve the right to watch something less painful and cruelly sadistic - such as anything - if it goes horribly wrong.
