Nice to have a game that doesn't start before I am fully awake, and it marks the debut for the Diamondbacks of Cesar Valdez. I already have the headline written for tonight's article, in one of two variations depending on how he pitches. Part of me wants him to suck, because that's the more apt one, but I will not stoop to such disloyalty. The D-backs need to get their road-trip back on track: it was looking pretty good at 3-1, but then the pitchers allowed forty hits and thirteen walks in 24 innings and... Well, let's hope for better in Houston.
- Kelly Johnson 2B [and NL player of the month!]
- Justin Upton RF
- Stephen Drew SS
- Mark Reynolds 3B
- Adam LaRoche 1B
- Chris Young CF
- Gerardo Parra LF
- Chris Snyder C
- Cesar Valdez RHP
Obviously, the most interesting thing is going to be to see how Valdez does against major-league pitching. Getting through the first couple of frames, as that should then settle the nerves. Paulino is almost equally as unknown to the Diamondbacks: LaRoche and Parra are the only ones with more than two PAs against him, though Adam does have a home-run.
We're off out to see a house, in the ongoing search for SnakePit Towers v2.0, but should hopefully be back not long after first-pitch, so I'll see you in the GDT.
