Not quite the start to the road-trip we wanted, but we plow on regardless. Only 114 games to go until the end of the season, folks! :-) At least we can hardly do any worse in San Francisco, who are wobbling a bit themselves - they did take two of three from Washington, but had lost five in a row before that. If our pitching has been struggling of late, so had the Giants offense - over the past eight games, they have hit .214,. and scored a total of only 21 runs. C'mon, even the impotent Diamondbacks hitting we have seen of late, can probably do better than that. Can't they?

Line-up and stuff after the jump

  1. Kelly Johnson 2b
  2. Conor Jackson lf
  3. Stephen Drew ss
  4. Justin Upton rf
  5. Adam LaRoche 1b
  6. Mark Reynolds 3b
  7. Chris Young cf
  8. John Hester c
  9. Edwin Jackson rhp

We'll see if Edwin Jackson can reproduce his past 1 7/8 starts, over which he allowed one earned run in 15 innings of work - before he and the bullpen made things a tad interesting, by inviting the Blue Jays to warm up for the Home-Run Derby last week in the eighth inning. However, overall, his last couple of starts have certainly been an improvement, with a K:BB ratio over them of 21:2.

'charmer is on the recap, and she's actually going to be at the game, so it'll be a) an eye-witness report, and b) probably a bit late. She'll be looking to aware Comment of the Thread to someone, so please remember to make copious use of the REC button, to make her life easier. I'm debating whether to watch this one, or pull something amusing out of the unwatched pile. After the past four games, the latter seems like the better option, but please try and convince me otherwise.
