LHP, 0-3, 2.45

Hey, folks! Guess what? It's a day game today! Won't that be a nice change?

Lineups, etc. after the jump.

  1. Tony Abreu 2B
  2. Stephen Drew SS
  3. Justin Upton RF
  4. Mark Reynolds 3B
  5. Chris Young CF
  6. Rusty Ryal 1B
  7. Cole Gillespie LF
  8. John Hester C
  9. Edwin Jackson RHP

Wot? No Johnson? That's it, we're screwed. Can't he play left-field or something? [Yeah, our pitchers are still hitting better than our LFs...] The B-squad get a run-out today, with Abreu, Gillespie, Hester and Ryal all getting to start against the left-hander Gorzelanny. He remains winless, despite a sparkling ERA, due to an absence of run support. We trust that will continue today, though Jackson needs to do better: he has basically been out-pitched by trade-mate Kennedy to this point, with Edwin's ERA more than two runs higher.

Let's beat the Cubs, split the series and then move onto Houston and beat them up. Hey, I can dream, can't I? It will be IHateSouthBend on the game recap, for the only time this season before he gets traded to the Diamondbacks - I hear he'll be going into the Arizona bullpen. I'll be back after the game with your Sunday SnakeBytes, and then again in the evening, as I take a look at the worst bullpens in franchise history. Sure you won't want to miss that.
