Ian Kennedy
RHP, 2-2, 3.58

After a pretty disappointing first 25% of the season, the bottom of the fifth inning will see us move into the second quarter of the 2010 campaign, as we take on the Giants. They will have every incentive to win, seeing at they are engaged in a ferocious three-way struggle at the top of the division, with only one game separating them, the Padres and the Dodgers. With the latter two facing each other tonight, San Francisco will know a win could see them on top of the NL West.

Us... Well, we're just hoping to keep our bullpen ERA below eight. Line-up and stuff after the jump.

  1. Kelly Johnson 2B
  2. Conor Jackson LF
  3. Stephen Drew SS
  4. Justin Upton RF
  5. Adam LaRoche 1B
  6. Mark Reynolds 3B
  7. Chris Young CF
  8. Chris Snyder C
  9. Ian Kennedy RHP

Well, we may have brought Gerardo Parra up, but it doesn't seem like he's needed this evening - the speculation was that this was just insurance in case LaRoche was not available, but he's in there. It'll be Kennedy's first start against the Giants, so the benefit of unfamiliarity is with him, Aubrey Huff being their only player who has ever seen Kennedy before. Bit of a mixed bag for Arizona against Wellemeyer: Drew is 6-for-9 (!), but the rest of the team are a combined .212, with Adam LaRoche a mere 5-for-26, and representing more than a third of all our at-bats.

Might be about right at the start, but as soon as SnakePit Jr. arrives, we've scheduled a four-episode marathon of 24, catching up in advance of the last-ever episode on Monday. There will be pizza. There will be beer. There will be shouts of "...because he's Jack f'ing Bauer!" And I will check in late at night, to read the azrecap, and hopefully see an Arizona win, our first at home since April 25. Yeah. Not good.
