A quick dip into Florida, for a series that in all likelihood will be finished less than 24 hours after it has started - day game tomorrow after this evening's contest, and then back to Arizona for the boys. Hopefully, we will have a couple more wins tucked under our belt by then. At least the team is now in a state of Howrylessness, and that'll help - we lost nine of the last ten games in which he appeared. So, today is the first day of the rest of the season, right? Right? Hello? Is this thing on?
Line-up and stuff after the jump.
- Kelly Johnson 2B
- Conor Jackson LF
- Stephen Drew SS
- Justin Upton RF
- Adam LaRoche 1B
- Chris Young CF
- Tony Abreu 3B
- John Hester C
- Edwin Jackson RHP
Mark Reynolds is a late-ish scratch from the line-up, so is replaced by Abreu at third for the day. No word yet on the reason why. Nick Piecoro says Mark isn't feeling well, is too weak tonight to play. However, I am more concerned about Jackson, who has been a shadow of his former self in his starts so far. Part of it has been a high BABIP (.359 this year), but his home-run rate is 50% up on his career number. Maybe he'll be happier pitching by the ocean - his best start of the year was in San Diego, where he threw six scoreless innings. Last time out, he didn't pitch badly, until a dubious decision to walk Ethier to get to Mandy resulted in a bases-clearing double on Jackson's 121st pitch of the game.
Likely be about for much of this, though I may arrive a little late, depending on when the movie I'm about to watch (title to be decided) finishes. I'm recapping, so I would like to continue my unbeaten streak in such things, and reach "two" this evening. Thanks to the Diamondbacks in advance for their co-operation.
