Well,. the Diamondbacks did make a bullpen move this afternoon, optioning Daniel Stange to Reno, and bringing up Carlos Rosa, the reliever whom we got off Kansas City a little while ago. We'll see what Rosa brings to the table, but it can hardly be any worse than Stange, who managed to overcome sterling competition and become the worst pitcher named Dan in franchise history, mostly because he walked six in four innings of work. Of course, Rosa is also immediately the worst pitcher named Carlos in franchise history, because we've never had one before. However, that also makes him the best pitcher named Carlos in franchise history.

Line-up and stuff after the jump

  1. Conor Jackson LF
  2. Stephen Drew SS
  3. Justin Upton RF
  4. Mark Reynolds 3B
  5. Adam LaRoche 1B
  6. Chris Young CF
  7. Tony Abreu 2B
  8. John Hester C
  9. Edwin Jackson RHP

Kelly Johnson gets the night off - perhaps he could pitch out of the bullpen? - with Abreu getting the start at second, and CoJack returning to the lead-off spot. Snyder also gets a break, but given his lack of offensive output this month, Hester may actually represent an upgrade there. Kuroda got a no-decision against the D-backs earlier in the year, pitching around ten hits to allow two earned runs in seven innings of work. Jackson is 6-for-13 against Kuroda, Reynolds 1-for-16 - those are the two extremes, but given that, I am a little surprised to see Special K in the clean-up spot.

Not going to be about for this. It's an Azrecap, and it's best for all concerned that I stay entirely out of the loop, given my woeful record in recaps this year. There's an online chat with Fox Sports AZ's Jack Magruder tonight, so you can go pick his brains regarding possible ways to fix the bullpen. I'll be a guest on one of those with Jack next month - I actually got offered a slot tonight, but declined. Having endured four consecutive awful outing by Arizona, it's for the best, all round: I get to do something pleasant tonight, and FSAZ don't have to put my chat on a seven-second delay...
