Gameday Thread, #21: 4/28 vs. Rockies

Kris Benson
RHP, 1-1, 3.00

Greg Smith
LHP, 1-2, 5.24

The first two games in the series went pretty much as you'd expect: both teams used strong pitching performances from their aces, coupled with early offense, to take the victory. Now we head to the back of the respective rotations, where Benson and Smith are both only present due to injuries ahead of them - Brandon Webb and Jeff Francis respectively. It's probably advantage Arizona: Benson is 2-for-2 in quality starts; Smith is not only just 1-for-4 there, he is also pitching on short rest due to the rain-out and subsequent double-header in Florida. A win would give us the series and send us on to Cubtown in good spirits.

Line-up after the jump.

  1. Kelly Johnson 2B
  2. Tony Abreu SS
  3. Justin Upton RF
  4. Mark Reynolds 3B
  5. Adam LaRoche 1B
  6. Chris Young CF
  7. Cole Gillespie LF
  8. John Hester C
  9. Kris Benson RHP

The bench gets to run out there today, with starts for Abreu, Gillespie and Hester - the middle of those is likely because of a left-hander on the mound for Colorado. Here's to our back-up boys doing a better job of handling the Rockies pitching today: and getting our first series win on the road. It's an Azrecap. Or a recap fuil of Azreousiciousness. Your choice.
