Jon Garland

After last night's fascinating encounter, we head down the coast to a rematch with the Padres in the capacious confines of Petco Park. There'll be a familiar face waiting to greet us, as we see Jon Garland again: not sure he'll be quite so happy to see us, as we took him for six runs on April 5th, albeit only two earned. Edwin Jackson also faced the Padres, the day after and got the loss, so something has to give there. Line-up and stuff after the jump.

  1. Conor Jackson 1B
  2. Stephen Drew SS
  3. Justin Upton RF
  4. Mark Reynolds 3B
  5. Kelly Johnson 2B
  6. Chris Young CF
  7. Gerardo Parra LF
  8. Chris Snyder C
  9. Edwin Jackson RHP

Still no Adam LaRoche in the line-up; Steve Gilbert just tweeted that his quad is still "not good enough to play on." However, Kelly Johnson's back is, er, back, and so he returns to the fray, as does Chris Snyder. Nick Piecoro has some interesting thoughts on last night's game, including the closer situation, John Hester and the decision to pitch to Ethier. Turns out it was also the most-watched contest of the young season to date, and at its peak was the #1 program in the Phoenix area.

Speaking of programming - something called "hockey" is overtaking FoxSportsArizona tonight. They've added an alternate channel on which the Diamondbacks game will be tonight - click here to find out what channel FSA-A is for you.

I won't be about for this evening's game, for reasons which someone mentioned elsewhere. It'll instead be a nice steak dinner with Mrs. SnakePit, the SnakePitette and her boyfriend, and then I think I'll sprawl on the couch and catch up with more Tivo'd stuff - the past couple of nights have left me in need of a break. Naturally, I expect to check in tomorrow morning and see 1,700+ comments. :-) 'charmer is on the recap, so look forward to reading that.

And, more importantly, to beating the Padres.
