Woo-hoo! Baseball! Even if it's the most empty, meaningless kind of baseball, it's the first time we'll have seen the Diamondbacks in action for five months or thereabouts, so it's like giving a man lost in the desert a six-pack of Diet Dr. Pepper. It may not be much, but it'll do for now. So, it's up against the Rockies we go this afternoon, at Tucson Electric Park. Here's the lineup:
- Stephen Drew SS
-
Conor.Jackson LF
- Justin Upton RF
- Miguel Montero C
- Kelly Johnson 2B
- Chris Young CF
- Rusty Ryal 3B
- Brandon Allen 1B
- Billy Buckner RHP
After Buckner, who will throw the first two innings, Arizona will send T.J. Beam, Bob Howry, Zach Kroenke, Tom Layne and Leo Rosales to the mound. No Mark Reynolds or Adam LaRoche in the opening line-up: I hope Ryal opts not to block any more balls with his nose this afternoon. [Why, yes - we will be running that incident into the ground, thank you for asking]. Interesting to see Drew leading off: shape of things to come?
Anyway, still no idea of coverage, beyond it being on KTAR 620. But regardless, it'll be a chance for us to over-extend those metaphors, stretch our our pop culture references and maybe even mention the game now and again. Or maybe not...
