After the bullpen proved their charitable nature last night, popping a win into the collection box being rattled by the "Knock LA out of the Playoffs" Foundation [Colorado branch], we'll see if Doug Davis is in a less giving mood tonight. He could do with a victory himself, being winless in his past four outings, even though three of them were quality starts. He doesn't have a glowing record against the Rockies of late either - over five attempts he is 0-3 since May 2007, and they have slapped him about in both appearances this year, to the tune of 12 ER in 7.1 innings.
Not that Contreras is exactly lighting up the W column either. He has one win in nine second-half starts, with a 6.97 ERA. He hasn't been helped by the White Sox defense, which tagged him with eight unearned runs over his previous two outings. But when opponents hit .307 off you in the second-half, and you have walked 23 batters in 41.1 innings, you can't really blame anyone else for your record.

Eric Byrnes is back with the team, having been activated off the disabled list after missing 64 games and about ten weeks. He is available off the bench and I wouldn't be surprised to see him start tomorrow. No TV for this one, I believe, so be interesting to see if there' s much activity in the GDT.
