Vincente Padilla
RHP, 9-6, 4.86

I was just writing up the August Player of the Month nominees, and you may be startled to discover that the rotation member with the best ERA over that time was Petit. And it's even better when he stays away from Chase Field - since the break, he has five road starts and owns a 1.80 ERA in those, having allowed six earned runs in thirty innings of work. However, he has an amazing habit for confounding expectations: when you think he'll do well, he sucks, and when you're ready to consign him to the dumpster, he'll no-hit the opposition for seven innings. He is also 0-3 lifetime with an 8.36 ERA against Los Angeles.

Going for the Dodgers is Padilla, who came across from Texas in a post-deadline trade. Since June 24, his seven outings have alternated wins and losses - the good news is, today, he's scheduled for a defeat. However, perhaps more pertinent is the trouble he gave us when with the Rangers - we faced him on June 24, and he allowed only one run in seven innings of work. Be hoping for better than that this evening. And while you're waiting for the game, here's audio clippage of Josh Byrnes and AJ Hinch off KTAR today, talking about our recent trades, amongst other things.
