Crap. You mean we have to face another left-handed pitcher today? After six zeroes posted by Jamie Moyer yesterday, and Randy Wolf taking a shutout into the eighth on Sunday, I am not looking forward to seeing what happens when we face a left-hander who is actually good? Since being traded to the Phillies, Lee has pitched 24 innings in three starts and allowed one run in each appearance, for an NL ERA of 1.12. He's won his last six starts with an ERA over that time of 1.29 and a K:BB ratio of 37:6. As a left-hander, I feel our hitters' pain
The good news is, we send out there one of the few pitchers with a better ERA than Lee, in the shape of Diamondbacks' ace Dan Haren. He bounced back from a run of disappointing outings with eight innings of one-run ball against the Dodgers, the only damage a home-run - like almost all those he has allowed, a solo shot [15 of 18 this season have come with no-one aboard]. As long as he continues to pitch like that, this could be a serious pitching duel - I'll be taking the 'under' on the game time tonight.
Line-up
- Ryan Roberts LF
- Augie Ojeda 3B
- Stephen Drew SS
- Mark Reynolds 1B
- Rusty Ryal 2B
- Trent Oeltjen CF
- Chris Snyder C
- Alex Romero RF
- Dan Haren P
Bit of a devil's dilemma in the outfield line-up today. Do we play Gerardo "Can't hit lefties" Parra there or Ryan "Not my usual position" Roberts? AJ Hinch has clearly gone for offense over defense, opting to have Roberts and put Reynolds at 1B, rather than the Doomsday Options of Josh Whitesell and Chad Tracy against an LHP. I've been looking at our numbers against them and it ain't pretty, but I'll be posting that later tonight. Meanwhile, Azreous will be on the recap, so 'interesting' is likely to be the word for the game.
Usual early start means I won't be about until... Well, by the time I get home, this'll probably be in the eighth inning or thereabouts. I have, however, submitted a Key to the Game to the booth through Twitter, so let's see if they use it!
