Week 9 Results

AZ SnakePit 3, The Fighting Amish 7
Good pitching was the key to Amish's success, as they delivered a 2.43 ERA and 0.81 WHIP, their staff anchored by Carpenter. Cruz homered three times for them as well as Amish, er, Cruz'd, but Overbay had two homers and drove in eight for Snake. Lind scored six runs for Amish.

Blonde Streaks 5, warlords 5
Blonde can feel unlucky not to have got the win; war took HR, SB and K by one, and needed all three to hold on for a tie. Phillips (2 SB, HR) was thus their MVP for the week, despite Posada's two homers. Zobrist went long three times for Blonde; Lincecum had a W and 11 K's.

GregSchulteOverdrive 1, 7-2 Offsuiters 6
Though three categories (R, HR and Sv) all ended tied, it was almost all 7-2 otherwise, with Greg's only win coming in K's (Braden had seven and a W). Fielder had three homers for 7-2, while Ibañez drove in eight, and their pitching staff combined for a minuscule 1.27 ERA.

Balco's Boys 9, Wimboes Barmy Army 0
Balco's were almost unstoppable, and came within one save of posting the first complete-game shutout of the year. They did it all, hitting .307 and with a 2.23 ERA. At the plate, Helton drove in seven, and Cantu scored six times, while on the mound, Matsuzaka had a W and 14 K's.

Captain Douchebag 2, Arizona Muugens 8
Captain continued to struggle (their manager getting promoted isn't helping!), with three HR + 16 RBI in total. Guillen (Muugens) was the only player for either side to have more than one homer, while Halladay also had a monster week for them: two Wins and twenty Strikeouts.

Shoryukens! 7, Desert Dingleberries 2
A sweep of hitting drove Shoryu's victory, led by Reynolds (6 R, 6 RBI), though they were helped by Desert's broken clutch (only 13 RBI). Things were split equally on the mound: Desert got two Wins and 11 K's out of Bedard, but Aardsma got a vulture W and Sv for Shoryu.

Confederate Generals 4, Moving on Uptons 6
Uptons also took all five hitting points, but had to withstand a furious pitching charge, where Generals almost swept back - Morrow's save the only for either side, was enough for Uptons to hold on. Stewart (4 HR, 12 RBI) led the way for Uptons; Braun homered three times for Generals.

Kapsaicin Kids 7, Baked 2
This was a monstrous pitching duel: Baked (41 K, 1.91 ERA) would have taken those categories most weeks, but Kids were even better (51 K, 1.75 ERA). Kids eased away in hitting, thanks to Martinez (3 HR) and Holliday (9 RBI). Baked got a W and 2 Sv from Broxton)

Balco's Boys vs. 7-2 Offsuiters
Captain Douchebag vs. Wimboes Barmy Army
Arizona Muugens vs. Baked

Kapsaicin Kids vs. Moving on Uptons

No problem for the MLB Network to pick a Game of the Week: leaders 7-2 Offsuiters take on third-placed Balco's Boys. The two sides combined to allow the opposition only one point combined last week, and now face off against each other. 7-2's trio of Fielder, Kinsler and Ibañez have combined for 49 homers and over 150 RBI to date, while Duke and Gallardo each have six wins. Balco's have double-barreled closers in Sherrill (11 saves) and WIlson (15), while Teixiera's 17 homers powers their offense. Ellsbury and Bourn have combined for 42 SB while hitting .300. Should be a good contest.
