Gameday Thread, #60: 6/10 vs. Giants

Barry Zito
LHP, 2-6, 3.86

Doug Davis
LHP, 3-6, 3.36

Kinda fitting that the tribute to Randy Johnson goes ahead tonight, on an evening when arguably the two best left-handed pitchers in the division [though Randy Wolf might dispute that] go up against each other. Both have peformed pretty sterling work, and neither see that reflected in seriously deficient W/L records with their respective sides. Extending the parallels, both men won their last start, but that was the only victory for each in the last month.

Davis has already faced the Giants twice this season, with distinctly mixed results. He beat them with eight shutout innings in HiSpeedInternet Park on April 18th, but fared much less well here in Phoenix the following week, taking the loss for six innings of five-run ball. The Diamondbacks haven't seen Zito this season: however, we largely owned him in 2008, socking Bazza over five winless starts for a 6.41 ERA.

Some quick injury updates from Tyler at KTAR. Conor Jackson took batting practice with the starting pitchers; he's yet though to have a full day of baseball activity. Tony Clark will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno on Thursday. And Chad Tracy is hitting in the cage; he's eligible to come off the DL this weekend but he said he'll need a couple of games in the minors before he returns.

Waiting for Mrs. SnakePit to pick me up - she had a meeting - so might be a little late to the thread on this one. We also have to engage on some serious shredding [got about eight years of customer credit-card receipts to get through before we move!], so might do that in front of the game. Sprankton on the recap tonight, so if I'm not around, trust any other lurking mods and admins will assist as needed with promoting his Fanpost recap, etc.
