Sorry this is a bit late. Almost forgot about it, and got caught up in writing a review of the Charles Band Horror Roadshow instead. Not that there's any real hurry, of course - but if I start slacking off on the first day after the end of the regular season, what hope for the winter? So, here you go:
Championship match: Balco's Boys 7, Shoryukens! 2
3rd/4th place: 7-2 Offsuiters 5, Fighting Amish 5 [7-2 win on ERA tiebreaker]
Consolation championship: Conferate Generals 4, Kapsaicin Kids 5
9th/10th place: Moving on Upton 7, Baked 3
Full details, final standings, etc. after the jump
Championship match: Balco's Boys 7, Shoryukens! 2
Balco's played tidy baseball, despite totaling only six homers over the final two weeks. They hit .318 and had four players reach double-digits in runs, led by Sandoval (11 R, 3 HR, 10 RBI). Their pitching mustered a solid 3.16 ERA, with Dempster notching 22 K's. Tulowitzki was the best for Shoryu (10 R, 3 HR, 11 RBI), but they were let down by their pitching and were never in this one.
3rd/4th place: 7-2 Offsuiters 5, Fighting Amish 5 [7-2 win on ERA tiebreaker]
Things were unchanged in the second week of this contest - 7-2 kept all five pitching points, while Amish swept hitting. With neither team able to make an inroad, 7-2 took the ERA tiebreaker, 3.60-6.71. Two wins and 16 K's by Wells highlighted their pitching, with Nathan getting five saves. The teams combined for 35 homers, Amish getting five apiece from A-Rod and Lind.
Consolation championship: Conferate Generals 4, Kapsaicin Kids 5
Homers ended tied at a dozen, but Kids have their pitchers to thank too, as they took ERA by a margin of only 0.02. Greinke had two Wins and 18 K's for the Generals, but Johnson fanned 20 for Kids and they only needed two saves for victory there. Braun had three home-runs and drove in 12 for Generals; Butler matched the home-runs for Kids, while posting ten RBI.
9th/10th place: Moving on Uptons 7, Baked 3
This contest was closer than it look, with the Uptons taking Home-runs by one, and BA by the smallest possible margin, .001. They have Bruce to thank for that: he had four homers, 13 RBI and hit .375 for the two weeks; McCutchen scored 13 for Baked. Cain and Hanson each had a W + 16 strikeouts for the Uptons; Kershaw fanned 18 for Baked in a losing cause.
