AZ SnakePit Fantasy Baseball: Week 12

Week 12 Results

AZ SnakePit 6, GregSchulteOverdrive 3
Snake hardly dominated hitting, but did well enough to take four points, despite having no-one with more than one homer or four RBI. They did get 12 K's from Wolf and two saves by Nathan. Greg has a .93 WHIP and Pence homered twice, while Cain had a Win and eight K's.

Douchebaggery 2, warlords 8
Led by Pettitte (two W, 13 K, 0.00 ERA), war stormed to a miniscule 1.63 ERA on the week: Halladay was also unscored upon. Fielder had five homers for Douche, but Reyes (nine runs, two SB) led war's offense, taking four of five categories at the plate. Wagner saved three for Douche.

dbacktom 7, last place 1
tom swept pitching, rolling to four wins (two by Padilla), six saves (three each for Saito and Rivera), 46 K's and a 2.26 ERA. Runs and HR were tied, and last's only triumph was SB, thanks to A-Rod, who stole three and added two homers. Loney drove in seven for tom, who batted .355 overall.

The Fighting Amish 7, Shenanigans 2.0 3
Amish admitted this was "totally undeserved"; they hardly impressed with the bat, but Shen hit just .198 with 13 RBI, letting Amish take all five hitting points behind Guerrero (7 R, 3 HR, 7 RBI). Shen did better on the mound, Hudson + Oswalt getting a W and 5 K's each, but it was too little, too late.

Tucson Myth 5, Kapsaicin Kids 5
Myth and Kids could not be separated. Despite a .225 BA, Myth had a narrow edge in hitting, but Kids clawed that back with two wins and 13 K's from Billingsley and no less than five saves by Soria. Myth had a W and 11 K's by Weaver, while Cabrera had six runs, two HR and 7 RBI.

7-2 Offsuiters 5, Crazy VIII's 5
7-2 and VIII were also tied, but here, 7-2 had a clear lead in pitching, while VIII's were the better hitters. At the plate, Beltran had three homers and two SB, as VIII's hit .348 for the week. However, they sputtered to a 7.89 ERA, while two wins and nine strikeouts for Duchscherer powered 7-2's comeback.

Adriano Rosario's 8, SHUperMen 2
Adriano piled up *64* K's with Verlander notching 17 and Kazmir 14; with a 2.56 ERA they swept pitching, albeit only by one win and .15 in WHIP. The game was closer in offense: Ellis (8 R, 2 HR) led for Adriano, but Hart (2 HR, 7 RBI) and Remirez (7 R, 3 SB) helped SHU bring some respectability to the score.

Ignatius J. Rallies 6, Blonde Streaks 4
Streaks were underpowered [1 HR,. 10 RBI in total], but came within a W of getting the tie, as their pitching recovered to post a decent 3.24 ERA, Sabathia notching ten strikeouts. However, three HR from Teixeira overcame Rallies' decision to play 2B-less, and Torres got four saves too.

Desert Dingleberries 4, Wimboes Barmy Army 4
The week's third tie saw SB and W level, but Wimboes otherwise dominated hitting, with Desert responding by sweeping the other mound categories. Wimboes had three HR by Lee, and 10 RBI from Suzuki, but Galarraga had a W and a zero ERA for Desert, and Morrow a crucial save and five K's.

Desert Storm BC 5, Arizona Muugens 3
Monster hitting weeks by Dye + Ramirez for Storm, and Uggla + Huff for Muggens - each hitting four or more homers - turned this into a slugfest, the sides combining for 22 homers. Neither side managed a save, but two wins from Hernandez 2.0 were crucial for Storm, whose 3.24 ERA gave them victory.

dbacktom vs. warlords is an easy pick for game of the week, pitting two of the top three against each other. When tom win, they are unstoppable: their last four victories have been by the combined score of 33-4. But they have only won back-to-back once this year: can they become more consistent? war, on the other hand have a solid 9-3 overall mark, though haven't beaten a top ten team since defeating Dingleberries in Week Six. Should be an interesting game...
