The good news is, our reporter on the spot [that'd be Al from BCB] says , "The weather's going to be crappy again today. In fact, I'd say there's a pretty good chance that today's game will be postponed. That would mean a rescheduling, and means we'd only have a 1-in-5 chance of facing the Cubs ace Zambrano. Is there anyone wearing Sedona Red who would be unhappy with this outcome, especially after the silence of our bats the last couple of days. It's time to do the voodoo that you do, and call down the raingods upon Wrigley.
If the game goes ahead, here's a nugget of hope to cling on to: Randy Johnson has never lost against the Cubs. In 13 games against them, he's 12-0 with a 1.98 ERA - the only other team whom he's never lost to is Houston, against whom he is 4-0. But Zambrano has been really good this year, and the way our offense has been over the past couple of days, they are going to struggle. Yes, all told, I think a quick postponement and an early return to Arizona is in our best interests.
Update. Because of the inclement weather and the chance of delays and/or postponement, Johnson has been scratched, and his start will be taken by Edgar Gonzalez. The question of whether the game starts on time, or indeed at all, is still up in the air. No sign of Hudson either, I note.
Update #2. Zambrano's not starting either. Not sure whether I want the game to go on now or not. :-) Word is the start looks likely to be pushed back.
