Gameday Thread, #122: 8/16 vs. Marlins

Livan Hernandez (32, RHP, 8-7, 4.85)
Daniel Barone (24, RHP, 0-0, 3.86) preview [opens in new window]

Okay, another game where we face someone with no track-record: in this case, 4.2 major-league innings to his credit. Hey, that's only 340 career starts less than Hernande 2.0. It took him 104 pitches to get through those 4.2 innings, against the Mets last week: he walked four and allowed five hits. Should be a picnic for red-hot hitters like Mark Reynolds, now batting a mere .474 for the month of August.

Of course, there's the expectation, and then there's the reality... We've struggled against the Great Unknown before, making bad or rookie pitchers look like Nolan Ryan on Viagra. But we've got a chance to win our eighth, I think, consecutive series, and if the bats can keep up the recent work, and Livan maintain his decent form over the last couple of outing (13 IP, 5 ER), we should have a chance.
