Gameday Thread, #97: 7/19 vs. Brewers

New, comments
Livan Hernandez (32, RHP, 5-5, 4.61)
Yovani Gallardo (21, RHP, 1-1, 2.83) preview [opens in new window]

Last game of the series against the Brewers, and we can still come away with a split, if we take today's game. That would not really seem deserved, based on our performance in the first three games, but on the other hand, we have actually out-scored the Brewers in total, 10-9. Livan takes the mound, seeking to enhance his VORP score in our Purple Row bet: his opponent had a good outing last time, so hopefully Hernandez v2.0 will step us his game today. Our pitching, however, has not been the issue since the All-Star break. I'm sure I needn't draw you a picture...

This is the game where we should be faciong Ben Sheets but - much to the detriment of my fantasy team - he is out, and quite possibly for a while. Gallardo, however, is expected to be a lynchpin of the Brewers team for a long time to come, and has been striking out hitters, mostly in relief, at an impressive rate. I've a feeling our hitters might have trouble against this unfamiliar arm.
