Week 5 Results
AZ SnakePit 3, Eric Byrnes Sucks 7 - Byrnes swept hitting, batting .309 for the week, behind Victor Martinez's six runs and .455 average. SnakePit fought back in pitching, thanks to Duscherer's two relief wins, but the deficit at the plate proved too much to overcome.
dbacktom 0, Crazy VIII's 9 - VIII's nearly completed the first clean-sweep of the year, falling one win short of taking every category. But it was closer than it seemed: tom lost BA by .001 and they were only one save short too. Peavy piled up 20 K's and a win for VIII's; Lackey had 15 for tom.
The Fighting Amish 2, 4 K's 4 Gonzo 7 - Gonzo rode a strong hitting performance from Matt Holliday (2 HR, 8 RBI) to victory, with SB the only offensive category they didn't win. There was some power pitching on view, as the teams combined for 100 K's, Sabathia's 18 for Amish leading the way.
BBTNG 6, Kapsaicin Kids 4 - The return to form of Troy Glaus (4 HR, 8 runs) gave BBTNG an early lead, but Kids fought back with speed, Reyes and Taveras stealing three bags each. Pitching was poor, both teams above 5.50 ERA, but BBTNG did just enough, despite managing no wins at all.
Tucson Myth 0, warlords 9 - warlords also nearly managed a sweep, finishing one stolen base short. Willingham's 10 RBI couldn't help Tucson, and Warlords swept the pitching, behind Curt Schilling's win and 14 K's. Their pitching staff had an overall ERA of only 2.06, and piled up 43 strikeouts.
7-2 Offsuiters 2, Shenanigans 7 - Shen piled on the runs, scoring forty, helped by an amazing seven SBs from Victorino. 7-2 fell below the Uecker line, but Lowry's two wins gave them that category. Jones had four saves for Shen, who had a credible 1.16 WHIP figure for the week, and cruised to victory.
CoJack Forever 3, the don quixotes 6 - CoJack batted .303, but had trouble scoring, managing only 14 runs. Fielder powered don to batting success (4 HR, 12 RBI), while Cole Hamels (2 wins, 15 K's) ensured that they had the edge in pitching, too. Cain's meltdown hurt Cojack; neither team had a save.
Baked 3, Douchebaggery 7 - Douche swept hitting, though took BA by just .002. Baked managed only one homer, while Bonds and Wigginton had two each for Douche. Pitching was more evenly-balanced; Baked had five different arms get wins, Cabrera's 11 K's leading all players. Wagner and Papelbon gave saves to Douche.
GregSchulteOverdrive 3, Chupacabras 7 - Schulte charged off, taking the first three points, but from there on, it was all Chupa. They batted .321, and piled up six wins, including two each for Suppan and Arroyo. Street had three saves, and they had an ERA under three, sweeping pitching on their way to the win.
Desert Dingleberries 4, Webby17 5 - The closest game of the week went to the final point, where Webby took WHIP by 0.04 to snatch victory. Desert had the edge at the plate, where Ramón Hernández had 10 RBI, but a win, three saves and 5 K's for Webby's Dempster all proved crucial to their success.
