Gameday Thread, #8: 4/9 vs. Reds

Bronson Arroyo, RHP (0-1, 5.14)
Doug Davis, RHP (0-0, 0.00)

Opening Night at Chase: and it's going be a sellout, going by the fact that Mrs. SnakePit is currently stuck in traffic, inching her way towards me! Hopefully, we'll still get home in time for first pitch...but if not, will be there as soon as possible. We face the Reds, who have had a good start to the season, currently leading the NL Central, with a 4-2 record. Adam Dunn is leading the way, with a .381 average and three homers so far.

We send up Doug Davis, and his start will be subject to a great deal of scrutiny. Sure, he allowed no earned runs last time, but walked five. Echoes, there, of his last start in 2006: he walked a career-high eight, but allowed only one earned run. As noted elsewhere, that last outing made him the first pitcher in 40 years to permit 13+ base-runners without allowing an earned run, so he can't live long and prosper like that.

Still, it should be fun, and I'm sure the players will be delighted to be back in the warmth of Phoenix, after their road-trip to the frozen...er, East. Let's see if it'll thaw out some of the bats, and hopefully we can extend the streak to a fistful of wins.
