Gameday Thread, #5: 4/6 vs. Nationals

Micah Owings, RHP (no record)
Jerome Williams, RHP (no record)

Which of the following baseball cliches did Micah Owings use to describe his debut in today's game?

  • A. "I feel good."
  • B. "I'm ready."
  • C. "I've been looking forward to it for a long time and am just thrilled for the opportunity."
  • D. "I'm going to do the best that I can."
  • E. "I know my teammates will be behind me the whole time."
  • F. "I've just got to try not to do too much."

The answer, of course, is G. All of the above. He's clearly been practicing his media-speak. At least he is being given every chance to come away with the win, pitching against the #5 starter on, arguably, the worst team in the National League. Hopefully he won't be overawed and will settle down: at least the crowd shouldn't be a factor, based on the franchise-low 16K turnout for yesterday's game. Given the weather, can't say I blame them.

Should get to see the second half of this one. Arrival last night was delayed by us taking the wrong freeway entrance, which led to us going over the 51 freeway, rather than being able to take it! That is not a mistake which will happen again... Hopefully, our hitters will leap on the starter for some early runs again: and maybe even show up after the fourth inning. Meanwhile, I'll be happy if Owings stops the current trend, and gives us more than five innings. Surely it's not just Hernandez v2.0 who can do that.
