AZ SnakePit Fantasy Baseball: Week 14

AZ SnakePit 6, DFA'ders 3
A great pitching matchup, the sides combining for 11 wins and 99 K's: Bedard, Halliday and Sele had two victories each, while Kazmir had 17 K's. Berkman drove in 8 for DFA, but still lost the battle of first-base. Jeter's 3 SB gave that to AZ.
Man of the Match: Ortiz (AZ) - 7 R, 5 HR, 12 RBI, .300

Uk Dbacks 4, BigLebowski 6
UK's lacklustre starting (WHIP of 1.82 and 1.85 from Garcia and Arroyo) was their downfall, as they managed only one win. Pettite had 11 K's for Big, and Furcal's 4 SB were more than enough there; they also batted .294 for the week.
Man of the Match: Thome (Big) - 6 R, 3 HR, 9 RBI, .344

JByrnesIsMyHomie 8, ?Chalino Sanchez! 1
League leaders Byrnes blew past Chalino, with the latter's only victory thanks to Podsednik's 4 SB, though they did bat .302, pushing the opposition hard. For Byrnes, Dye had 5 HR and 11 RBI, while Soriano added 3 HR.
Man of the Match: Smoltz (Byrnes) - 2 W, 17 K, 2.57 ERA, 1.00 WHIP

Browncoats 3, The Loose Seals 5
Browncoats started briskly, taking the bulk of the hitting, but Loose came back, and were one save short of sweeping pitching. Browncoats pitchers went winless, but this was generally a low-scoring contest. Counsell's seven runs led all players.
Man of the Match: Giambi (Seals) - 4 R, 3 HR, 9 RBI

GregSchulteOverdrive 6, 7-2 Offsuiters 4
Schulte came from behind after losing all but RBIs in batting, to take all five pitching categories with Meche (W, 11 K) their star. Cabrera had two homers and 6 RBIs for 7-2, but Fuentes' 9th-inning Coors meltdown hurt their hurlers significantly.
Man of the Match: Wright (Greg) - 8 R, 2 HR, 8 RBI

The Fighting Amish 5, BBTNG 5
The TV game was, again, very close, with the two sides fighting their way to a tie. BBTNG had the hitting edge, batting .322, but a well-balanced pitching rotation pulled Amish back, with Julio's 3 saves very helpful. Figgins had 5 SB for Amish.
Man of the Match: Weaver (BBTNG) - 2 W, 14 K, 0.64 ERA, 0.71 WHIP

KarateMonkeyDeathCar 4, Random Fandom 6
Fandom did well on pitching, despite their continued lack of a closer, thanks to Lackey's one-hitter for the Angels. They needed that, as Karate came out on top of hitting, though only by a single RBI. Hafner had 7 runs and 8 RBIs for Karate.
Man of the Match: Lackey (Random) - 1 W, 10 K, 0.00 ERA, 0.11 WHIP

JByrnesIsMyHomie vs. BigLebowski
Browncoats vs. ?Chalino Sanchez!
GregSchulteOverdrive vs. The Loose Seals
The Fighting Amish vs. 7-2 Offsuiters
KarateMonkeyDeathCar vs. BBTNG

GregSchulteOverdrive vs. The Loose Seals is the game of the week, though the pause for the All-Star Game means it's an abbreviated session. Lineup constructions therefore could be a crucial element in deciding victory, especially the use of starting pitchers. There, Greg might have the edge, with Schilling and Rogers both in double-digits; Seals counter with Vazquez and Harang, and will be hoping it's "good" Javy who turns up. However, with Giambi's 27 homers, they have the biggest power-threat.
