Gameday Thread, #5: 4/8 vs. Brewers

Webb (0-0, 1.29)
Davis (0-0, 3.00)

Getting the preview up tonight, because with this one starting at 10:05 am, Arizona time [though for some reason, MLB.com still believes we are on Mountain Time], and me working to 1:30 am...well, do the math. I may not be actively present for first pitch, so get started without me, and I'll catch up when I surface.

Tonight presents my first fantasy-induced dilemma of the year. Davis is a starting pitcher on my team, and I desperately need a win, to have any chance of hanging on this week. For reasons painfully explained previously, I'm three men short on the batting side, so have basically abandoned hope in all five hitting categories - unless David Ortiz suddenly starts swiping bases. But I am well ahead in three pitching categories, and just ahead in saves. Wins are tied at time of writing, so a good performance from Davis is...

No, sorry: I just can't do it. It's too early for me to sell my fan's soul for a cheap win in a meaningless early-season fantasy encounter. It's just wrong. If Webb is as effective as he was at Coors, he'll have a field day, and I think this edge in the starting pitching will carry forward into a victory for Arizona.
