Wow, it seems like forever since I did one of these. A day over six months, in fact, and Brandon Webb started the last game of 2005 too. Hard to think of anyone better equipped to pitch in Coors Field. "If you elevate the ball there, you know you're going to get hurt. If my sinker is down and I keep the ball down, I'm pretty much all right," says Webb. Of course, intention is one thing, execution another, and we'll be keen to see Webb bounce back from his last couple of spring training outings.

The offense, on the other hand, led the majors over the past month, and where better than Denver to carry this momentum forward - y'know, into games that actually count? Only Gonzo and Green are in the same positions as they were on Opening Day last season; Counsell and Tracy have moved around, but the majority of the team didn't see action for us at all last season. They seem to have gelled fairly well during spring, but that was only a dress rehearsal.

It was great to wake up this morning and see actual, significant baseball on TV. Finally, it's Opening Day for your 2006 Arizona Diamondbacks. Let's go to work!
