Gameday Thread, #14: 4/18 vs Giants

Matt Morris, RHP (2-0, 2.57)
Russ Ortiz, RHP (0-2, 6.10)

Compare and contrast:

  • Matt Morris: 2-0, 2.57 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, .188 BAA
  • Russ Ortiz: 0-2, 6.10 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, .282 BAA

Anybody think we have a snowball's chance in hell tonight? Okay, after last night, it's clear that baseball remains a game where anything can happen. Still, really: the last time there was a match-up this one-sided, it involved the Iraqi army, and two weeks of carpet-bombing.

All I have to cling to is vague hopes that, somehow, we'll be able to get to Morris, despite his 3-0 record in Chase Field, and Ortiz will hold his own, to give us a quality start. That's probably too much to hope for, but I got nothin' else: oh, except perhaps praying that Morris has forgotten how to pitch. Thanks to rainouts and off-days, it's been eight days since he last started - rusty enough to make him worse than Russ? We can but hope...

May, or may not, be around for this one. We have tickets to see Jimmy Buffett tonight, but are uncertain whether to go or sell them in the parking lot. Somehow, after the roller-coaster which was last night, I somehow doubt today's game can live up to the that ride. If we don't have a contest like that the rest of the year, in fact, I'll be a happy bunny.
