Gameday Thread, #117: 8/12 vs. Braves

Vargas (5-6, 4.98)
Sosa (7-1, 2.36)

The Braves have juggled their starting rotation around a bit, which might make things a little easier on us - we don't have to face either Smoltz or Hudson.

However, neither Sosa's W/L record, nor his ERA, suggests he'll be a pushover. This should be an interesting battle of very effective mid-season rotation replacements: Sosa is 5-1 with a 2.25 ERA in his 11 starts, while Vargas for Arizona has a 2.56 ERA in seven starts since the beginning of July.

This suggests runs may be hard to come by this afternoon, but we'll see. Keep an eye out to see if Lyon is activated, and whether he's thrust straight back in as our closer, or given a couple of non-save opportunities to establish himself. I'm working, so comments will likely be "limited", shall we say; lineups to follow later though, with any luck.

Lineup:

  1. Craig Counsell, 2B
  2. Chad Tracy, RF
  3. Luis Gonzalez, LF
  4. Tony Clark, 1B
  5. Troy Glaus, 3B
  6. Shawn Green, CF
  7. Alex Cintron, SS
  8. Kelly Stinnett, C
  9. Claudio Vargas, P
