Gameday Thread, #55: 6/3 vs. Phillies

Vazquez (5-3, 3.65)
Padilla (1-5, 7.03)

Still over on the East coast, so another early game start, and since I've got to be at work in 45 minutes, I'm not going to say much about this one. The Phillies have looked rather good, most recently in a sweep of the Giants. However, they run up against the anti-Ortiz (in that he walks nobody, and is getting better as the season goes on) named Javier Vazquez, who has issued the least walks of any qualifying pitcher in the major leagues.

This matchup should easily favour the D'backs, with Padilla sporting a fine 1-5 record, and an ERA north of seven to boot. However, I recall saying the same thing when we faced Zambrano in New York, and we know how that turned out. So I think discretion is the better part of valour here.

As usual, I'll point you at a Phillies blog for their take on events. Since there's no SportsBlogs entry yet for the team, stop by the Philling Station, and pick up the opinions from the City of Brotherly Love. Or is that Boston? Hey, it's not my history... :-)
