Not really much happening on the D'backs front, beyond Eric Byrnes coming out with the inevitable platitudes about looking forward to proving that the second half of last year was not really symptomatic of his true form. Yeah, whatever, Eric - we'll see. :-)
So, something a little different for New Year's Eve! A last - well, almost last! - look back at 2005...
As you might expect from a 77-85 year, 2005 didn't exactly push the boundaries of franchise history. Indeed, even though the Diamondbacks are less than a decade old, only one significant new mark was set last season: Troy Glaus set a "best" for strikeouts, smashing Jay Bell's 1999 record (132) by whiffing 145 times. Otherwise, the closest was Brandon Webb falling one short of Schilling's sac. bunt record (14), and Royce Clayton missing the GIDP summit (Danny Bautista with 20 in 2004) by the same distance.
Anyway, here's a list of the D'backs who entered the top 10 in franchise history, as a result of their 2005 performances.
