Billy Corgan blames Eddie Vedder for 2008 Cubs Loss

I saw this at last night's Smashing Pumpkins concert and fortunately someone else had a video camera.

Billy Corgan (lead singer of the Smashing Pumpkins) pretty much up and blamed Eddie Vedder (lead singer of Pearl Jam) for the Cubs' 2008 loss when he releasedthat "All the Way" sone a few months back.

Corgan also said he's thinking about recording his own Cubs song ... which he feels he can make a better one than "Go Cubs Go"

Mind you he did rip on White Sox fans in attendance.

Sports Illustrated hates the Cubs

Two Days ago, Trey2317 had a great comment about how some MLB teams have overcome the SI Jinx and won the World Series.

1991 Twins (ALCS)
1992 Blue Jays (ALCS)
1996 Yankees (prior to World Series)
2001 Diamonbacks (middle of WS)
2004 Red Sox (middle of WS)
2005 south side club (middle of WS)
2007 Red Sox (leading into WS)

I'm not a beliver in curses or jinxes or ghosts .... But we have precedent going against us. Check this out. The Cubs can't seem to catch a break when they get featured on S late in the year.

1969, 71, 84, 98, and 2003 are all examples. Somehow we managed to blow it in 89 and 207 on our own.

Vote for the Phanatic vs Southpaw

The Home Run Derby website is running a Baseball Mascot Tournament at homerderby.com. They're in the second round and the Phillie Phanatic is getting beaten by the Chicago White Sox' mascot, something named Southpaw - which appears to be just another ripoff of the Phanatic.

Are you kidding me? That Southpaw thing is currently beating the Phanatic by 82% to 18%.

What's wrong with this picture? Go Vote for the Phanatic !!
