Sorry All!
My AC went out, and i'm trying to post the story before I go to work ... I'll be updating the lineup when it becomes avaliable, and after yesterday's sneaker, I think were looking for our ace to take our whole staff and return them to form.

Lineup
  1. Byrnes CF
  2. Jackson 1B
  3. Gonzalez LF
  4. Tracy 3B
  5. Estrada C
  6. SGreen RF
  7. Hudson 2B
  8. Drew SS
  9. Webb P
David Dellucci is getting the start in left for the Phils tonight.  Phils also send Lieber to the mound.  He's been pummeled in his last two starts against the Padres and the Giants.  His ERA of 5.55 isn't an accident... he's not good.

Should be a cake-walk for a Webb-lead DBack squad.

Thanks!
Thanks for posting the lineup ... Good to see Conner back in the lineup.  Still waiting to see Drew get a move around in the oder, BoMel gotta realize he's gotta try him around in another spot eventually.

I was working
and didn't catch the game at all.  Was it Webb being off or very poor defense behind him?  I saw there were errors early on.....

NL West update
Everyone lost but the Padres, who sent the Dodgers to their 8th straight loss.  D'Backs remains 2nd but are now 2 1/2 games back of the Padres.  Rockies (6 1/2 games back) and Dodgers (7 1/2) starting to lose ground.  The Rockies and Padres are playing each other next.  Go Rockies! :)

Gonzo's hot July continues
2-out homer gives the D'Backs a 1st inning lead.

Vargas struggling with his command
2 hit batters and a single has loaded the bases with 2 outs in the bottom of the 1st

Vargas gets out
by striking out David Bell.  Some hard hit balls by both teams in the 1st inning.  Could be a long game with lots of homers

Conor Jackson Homers!
But Shawn Green is HBP after 2 Phillies got hit in the 1st inning...

Conor Jackson proves how well the ball is carrying
by hitting a homer that looked like a simple flyball when it came off the bat.  2-0 D'Backs

3-2 Philly in the seventh
where did everyone go?

Any thoughts on Gonzo's performance as he enters the second half of an end-of-contract year? Has he gone back to the leaded coffee to impress AL teams?

It's called competition.
Andrewinnewyork:

I am convinced that Gonzo's performance for this month of July was enhanced due to the threat of losing his position and actual job to a rookie, named Carlos Quentin.

We all know how he whined about being snubbed by BoMel and the General Management, when CQ showed up and hit his first hit into the domain of left field.  Poor, poor Gonzo.

If Gonzo is really interested in ending his dwindling career with the Backs, he and his agent had better think about a plan to renegotiate the last option year.  J Byrnes reality says we are not interested in expending silly money on your reputation and ego.  Those days disappeared when Joe Jr. and the check books left.  If you would like to stay Gonzo, let's work on something that can be beneficial to all interested parties.

I don't think Gonzo is an idiot per se.  If you know that the $10 million jack is not on the table, it is time to negotiate as to what Gonzo can afford and what the team is willing to extend for one to two years and then a cushy upper management position to follow.

If Gonzo has an ego that will not quit, say goodbye to the good times and be relegated to DH with a team that has the money but will not be in contention for any post season play.

I am sure Mrs. Gonzalez and the triplets are not very keen on his leaving for 6+ months trying to get the $2 million jack and living in a foreign place, unless with TB.

What is really needed is for Gonzo to accept a limited player's role, like Gracie did, and groom a the new heir for the Left Field position.  He can play with dignity, money, and a future with the management of this organization.  He will be the ultimate fixture of the organization and community that both Gracie and Mattie have become.

If he opts out of this scenerio, then he could become the fixture of baseball that his buddies Rafie, Markie, and Sammie have become.  Very, very cloudy!

Other thoughts, comments, and criticisms are always welcomed.

Had Tracey
Andrewinnewyork:

Just a quick note that Chad Had Tracey has committed two errors in two days.

Where is Matt Williams and his defensive coaching when we need it.

Had has worn out his welcome.  Ks and E5 are part of his repertoire performance and all the jack he signed for prior to the start of the regular season.

Good body of work Had Tracey.

Vargas WPs and 2 HBPs
Claudio Vargas does a good job with keeping runners on base with wild pitching and 2 hit bats men.  Nice body of work!

Still don't know why we picked him off the waiver wire last year from the Nationals.  They obviously knew and know something that we couldn't possibly ascertain.

Game over Phils 5 and Dbacks 2.  Good offensive explosion with 4 hits.

Nice body of work done by the team.

Let's take this freak show of a team to Houston where we might actually sweep? or be swept!
