Diamondbacks Game Reports

3

Diamondbacks 4, Indians 5: Bad Day For Starters

True on both sides: Combined, Carlos Carrasco and Ian Kennedy allowed 17 hits and nine earned runs in 10 innings. Their bullpens, together, seven shutout innings on just four hits. Still, with the deepest respect to Carrasco, it's IPK we care about.

D-backs 4, White Sox 2: Rod Barajas steals a base!

I lead with that, because it just doesn't happen often. Unfortunately, Barajas then suffered a rush of blood to the head, as he was later thrown out at the plate, trying to go second to home. And Brandon McCarthy gave us our first quality start.

D-backs 2, Padres 6: Putz not ready for rotation

Doesn't seem J.J. Putz will be challenging Patrick Corbin and Randall Delgado for a starter's spot any time soon. Getting his first non-rehab start in a very long while, I don't quite think one inning will cut it...

Diamondbacks 5, Dodgers 3: Say hello to .500

It's down to two, but there can be only one: fifth starter, that is. We saw Patrick Corbin yesterday; today, it was time for Randall Delgado to strut his stuff. Could he keep up?

8

D-backs 9/8, Dodgers 1/Padres 6: Split-Squad Sweep

A record crowd saw the Diamondbacks maul Ted Lilly and the Dodgers, 9-1, with a good outing from Trevor Cahill. The road half of the split-squad in Tucson, blew a lead, but beat the Padres 8-6. Patrick Corbin allowed one run in five IP.

7

Diamondbacks 6, Padres 10: Slammed

It wasn't a good day for either Diamondbacks starting pitcher today. Ian Kennedy left the game after being hit on the leg, and Tyler Skaggs allowed five runs in less than three innings.

+

Diamondbacks 2, Athletics 2: Sister-Kissing Time

The second tie of spring for Arizona, as they played to a deadlock against Oakland, in a crisp, well-pitched game where our hurlers allowed only four hits. Brandon McCarthy allowed both A's runs, in four innings, but struck out six.

2

D-backs 7, Brewers 0: Parra + Pitchers Run Rampant

Randall Delgado had his best start, throwing four scoreless innings, and the D-backs got their first shutout win in the Cactus League since March 21, 2011. Gerardo Parra homered and drove in three runs for Arizona.

ARI 3/5, COL 4/SEA 4: Split Squads, Split Decision

The Diamondbacks split this afternoon's two games, beating the Mariners 5-4 in Peoria, using the long-ball to do so. However, Matt Reynolds allowed two runs in his inning at Salt River Fields, and took the loss as Arizona went down 4-3 to Colorado.

3

Diamondbacks 5, Cubs 7: Sellout in the Sun

Another afternoon spent sitting in the March Arizona sunshine, but we were better prepared for it this afternoon. The D-backs lost, but I was largely unconcerned , as we spent another pleasant afternoon watching baseball in good company.
