ESPN on How Didi May Surprise

+

This requires subscription with ESPN insider in order to view the article, but I'll summarize. Buster Olney speaks about how some evaluators are starting to believe that Didi is more than a "no hit, all glove" shortstop due to his bat speed and bat recognition. While, they do cite that he does have some holes in swing, but praise his exceptional mental make up. Great to see some believers in Didi Gregorius!

Incredible article on Max Scherzer and his brother's suicide

1

While this is just tangentially related to the Diamondbacks in that Scherzer once pitched for us, this article is too good of a read to not share. Very sad, but very engrossing.

Deciding on divisive fantasy players

7

More KLaw potshots at Goldy. Now it's in the guise of fantasy advice. Yep, Goldy is a "platoon guy", folks--but at least he's no longer a bad defender: "Paul Goldschmidt: Can he hit breaking stuff from righties? "I think this is what he is -- a platoon guy who destroys left-handed pitching (and Tim Lincecum) while playing above-average defense at first. It probably helps his cause that Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson and GM Kevin Towers really seem to like his makeup, which counts for everything in Arizona these days." (It's behind a pay wall, so I just brought over the relevant part.
