Triple-A Reno 3 @ Salt Lake 6. Zack Greinke’s rehab start for the Aces was not exactly flawless. He worked five innings, and scattered nine hits and two walks. The walks both occurred at the start of the sixth, causing Greinke to be lifted. The hits included homers leading off the first and second innings. Greinke was charged with five runs, and struck out five, throwing 93 pitches, 55 for strikes. CF Mitch Haniger continued his torrid pace for Reno, adding two more hits and a walk, and SS Ildemaro Vargas also picked up a pair of hits,
Double-A Mobile 4/5, Chattanooga 3/4. The BayBears took both halves of the double-header. The opener saw Vincent Campos allow an unearned run in five innings, while all the runs came on homers by 1B Kevin Cron, C Oscar Hernandez and LF Chuck Taylor. The nightcap went 11, Mobile having tied things up on Ronnie Freeman’s RBI with two outs in the seventh to force extras. A passed ball let the Lookouts take the lead in the 11th, but the BayBears got RBI singles from 2B Jamie Westbrook and CF Evan Marzilli to walk off winners. Cron had another homer, his 18th.
High-A Visalia 4 @ Modesto 5 (10). No such luck for the Rawhide, who battled back from 4-0 down to tie things up, but an error by C Michael Perez helped the Nuts walk off here. Brad Keller lasted only 3.2 innings, allowing seven hits and four runs. Nick Baker retired all 10 batters he faced in relief, including three strikeouts. Bud Jeter followed with a pair of hitless innings.
A-ball Kane County 2 @ Beloit 1 (10). Jose Almonte had a very good start, holding the Snappers to three hits over seven innings of one-run ball, walking none and striking out seven.
