Feel free to use this thread to talk about today's games and maybe also break in with the news the Diamondbacks hired somebody to do something. Hey, it could happen
Toronto Blue Jays at Texas Rangers. 10:00 AM (AZ Time) TBS
JA Happ (20-4, 3.18 ERA) vs. Yu Darvish (7-5, 3.41 ERA)
Toronto Leads 1-0
The Blue Jays kicked the Rangers in the ribs hard while they were on the ground yesterday. JA Happ is another one of those "Wait, he won 20 games?" guys. Yu Darvish is fun to watch and seems to be healthy now and that can only help the Rangers. Unless he pulls what Hamels did yesterday, then forget what I said.
Boston Red Sox at Cleveland Indians. 1:30 PM (AZ Time) TBS
David Price (17-9, 3.99 ERA) vs. Corey Kluber (18-9, 3.14 ERA)
Cleveland Leads 1-0
I really liked Tito Francona's aggressive use of the bullpen last night. Using Andrew Miller in the middle of the game, extending out other relievers, etc. Gotta do what you can to win a game in a playoff series. Of course, this puts a little pressure on Corey Kluber to go deep into the game, but he's probably capable of it.
Los Angeles Dodgers at Washington Nationals. 2:30 PM (AZ Time) Fox Sports 1
Clayton Kershaw (12-4, 1.69 ERA) vs. Max Scherzer (20-7, 2.96 ERA)
0-0
Probably the pitching matchup with the most pizzazz of every divisional series game that has and will happen. The Nationals changed managers from Matt Williams to Dusty Baker this offseason, and the only thing I can think of now is how Dusty Baker managed teams have really biffed it badly in the postseason at times:
2012 Reds: Blew a 2-0 lead in the LDS against the Giants
2003 Cubs: All that stuff
2002 Giants: Was up 3-2 in the World Series with a lead and then the bullpen collapsed and then the Giants lost Game 7
So you'll excuse me if I half expect Corey Seager to find the one spot on earth with no gravity in Game 5 to get just enough of a jump to rob what would have been a game-tying RBI in the 9th.
San Francisco Giants at Chicago Cubs. 6:00 PM (AZ Time) Fox Sports 1
Johnny Cueto (18-5, 2.79 ERA) vs. Jon Lester (19-5, 2.44 ERA)
0-0
If there's any team capable of stopping the even year bulls***, it seems to be this Cubs team. Best record in the majors, and have a really good offense, pitching staff, bullpen, the whole shebang. Of course, they are the Cubs, and it's an even year, so throw out the record books and blah blah.
