Rockies 5, Diamondbacks 3

Hello, darlkness, my old friend... - Christian Petersen

Record: 51-67. Pace: 70-92. Change on 2013/2010: -10/+4.

Irresistible incompetence met immovable irrelevance today at Chase Field. The Snakes left too many ducks on the pond, dropping the frustrating final game of a three game series. Dickerson got the go-ahead solo shot for the Rockies, who were sorely in need of a win.

Mark Trumbo doubled in Ender Inciarte and Aaron Hill to give the home team the lead in the Bottom of the first and things were looking up. But moments later, the Arizona lefty served up a two run shot to a guy named Ben Paulson to tie it at two.

There were two occasions when Arizona had the bases full. The story of the game is that they got only one run out of all of that.

In the bottom of the 4th, Arizona loaded the bases on singles by Marte and Lamb and on error on Rocky starter Franklin Morales allowing Tuffy Gosewisch to reach first. Didi Gregorius made an unproductive out with an infield pop-up. Marte was forced at the plate on a grounder by Miley, but the throw back to first was offline, allowing the D-Backs to take the lead again.

Then, in the home half of the 9th, Didi had a leadoff walk. Xavier Paul botched a hard bunt to the pitcher, who forced DiDi at 2nd. Inciarte took a walk, sending Paul to second. Aaron Hill lined a single, loading the bases with one out. However, with the infield playing in, David Peralta's ground-out to short was the second out, and Trumbo couldn't come through again. The two runs Oliver Perez allowed in the tenth were enough, as the Diamondbacks were struck out in their half of the inning.

The Snakes had a chance to sweep, and to believe for a time that they are better than bad. Alas, they did not close the deal. They could not get the big hit. Sometimes two out of three is just bad. Jake Lamb had his first multi-hit game, and Gregorius drew two walks, but Arizona were 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position, and left ten men on base.

Bells and whistles, by Jim

The Team still owes me a contract from 2011

I caught a foul ball Sept 24, 2011 and got nothing but Giants fans heckling their own pitcher
